Recognized by many as the world’s greatest Olympian, discus thrower Al Oerter won a gold medal in four consecutive Olympics from 1956 to 1968, returning to competition in his 40’s to attempt a fifth gold.

Al's mighty presence touched the lives of so many across the globe, instilling in Olympians and common folk alike a sense of purpose to challenge the norm, ignore limitations, and attack barriers.

This website is a celebration of the life of Al Oerter, an incredible journey from the streets of New York to Olympic immortality.
